I used to not like it so much, but this was a pretty great weekend. Great food, great weather, an original speakeasy complete with secret door, even the people were nice.

I think I am still drunk.

That may have something to do with the 5 hour marathon all you can drink brunch I attended…

On a final note, I woke up this morning a little hungover but with some time on my hands so I fixed that issue with the comments not working…for like 6 months.

A Goal for 30

I never thought I would make it to 30, but it looks inevitable being that my birthday is next month. So anyway, what do you do at big milestones in your life? Re-assess everything, take stock and see what you have yet to accomplish I suppose.

I have lived all over the place, had all sorts of jobs, I have been to lots of cool countries. You know what I never did? I never beat Super Mario Brothers 3. It might not seem like a big deal, but it has bothered me for years. Decades actually.

So a few weeks ago I bought me a Super Nintendo on Craigslist, and I started my quest. It quickly became obvious that the years had not been good to my hand-eye coordination. I was certainly not the same Mario player I was back in 1990…when I was 11.

After a few weeks of intense practice I am back in action and kicking some koopa ass. I have made it all the way to world 7, and even to the second Fortress after 7-9.

Anyway wish me luck…I only need to beat world 8 and I will have accomplished my goal! Sure many people might think this is not a worthy goal for a 30 year old. But you guys can go to hell, let’s see you try and beat this shit. It’s hard!

While I was searching for some SMB3 graphics for this I came across this fun fact!

When you see a birds-eye view of all of the mazes from Zelda put together, they actually spell Zelda!

As much fun as it has been, I am glad to say it is finally over. Future Presidents may not be perfect, but at least they won’t be you.

I just wanted to whine for a minute. I am selling my motorcycle, and I am pretty sad about it. I am impressed I had it for 3+ years, and didn’t kill myself. Perhaps it is smart to sell it while I can still walk.

But I can cook, and pretty well too. Tonight we are gonna start something new — Cooking with The Derelict. Just because you are a guy who is into technology or sports or whatever that’s no reason to not be able to cook. It just takes practice, besides chicks dig it. Nearly every girlfriend I’ve had, the deal was sealed with a fine home cooked meal. Boy do I feel bad for some of the older girlfriends, I used to not be so great in the kitchen.

Anyway, we are having a Halloween party at the house tomorrow, so I am cooking up a storm. On the menu tonight ‘Thai Chicken Spring Rolls’, ‘Thai Steak and Mint Skewers’, and ‘Chicken Satay’. Appetizers are my favorite kind of food to make, and well that just works out for parties. This is my first time trying to record myself while cooking, I am sure to sound like a goon.

Like my girlfriend’s father says to me: “You are gonna make a good wife for someone someday”

And there I go, already sounding rather goon-ish.

Derelict Afternoon is a fairly new site, and I am still trying to figure out the direction I want it to go. As I might have mentioned already I am a born again mac freak. In the near future I will be using the built in camera on my Macbook Pro to record video content instead of text. I will start out with some video reviews of things I like and dislike, and see where it goes from there. The good news is I have a tendency to buy everything I see, so there are plenty of things to review. Here goes nothing…
