My name is Joseph Reilly. I am a 24-year-old white male from an upper-class family. I have attended the finest schools and graduated from a prestigious university. I have also just been sentenced to 6-23 months for DUI Aggravated Assault. Now, I am property of the Philadelphia Prison System.

I have been reading this blog for the last two weeks. It is a raw look at the inside of the philadelphia prison system from the perspective of young privileged white man with a bit of a drinking problem. Joseph tells his story by writing letters from prison which are transcribed in one entry per day. In the first few days alone Joseph sees a mans skull crushed in a holding cell, a man stabbed repeatedly in the face and a number of other disturbing occurrences.

He is only on day 13 of what may be a 600+ day sentence, here is hoping Joseph gets out unscathed, in great shape, cleaner and healthier.
