Thank you for your order…

I heart Amazon Prime. The cost is $79 a year. The benefit? Free two day shipping on almost everything, and overnight shipping for only $3.99, for anything. I mean anything. I ordered a 68LB inversion table from Amazon, selected overnight shipping, what did it cost? Huge box on my doorstep the next day for $3.99. It certainly pays for itself if you like stuff to arrive fast.

So what did I order?

The Flip Mino 60 Minute Camcorder

This thing seems pretty slick. Tiny one piece rechargeable instant USB video camera, there and ready to go when you need it. I am not expecting this to replace my HD camera, but I am expecting it to actually fit in my pocket. I of course ordered it overnight, so I will have it tomorrow.
A review will follow.

Born Digital

CNET has a video interview with the author of this book. It looks pretty interesting. Check out the interview below.

The first generation of “digital natives” – children who were born into and raised in the digital world – are coming of age, and soon our world will be reshaped in their image. Our economy, our cultural life, even the shape of our family life will be forever transformed.

But who are these digital natives? How are they different from older generations – or “digital immigrants” – and what is the world they’re creating going to look like? In Born Digital, leading internet and technology experts John Palfrey and Urs Gasser offer a sociological portrait of this exotic tribe of young people who can seem, even to those merely a generation older, both extraordinarily sophisticated and strangely narrow.

Based on original research, Born Digital explores a broad range of issues, from the highly philosophical to the purely practical: What does identity mean for young people who have dozens of online profiles and avatars? Should we worry about privacy issues – or is privacy even a relevant concern for digital natives? How does the concept of safety translate into an increasingly virtual world? Is “stranger-danger” a real problem, or a red herring? What lies ahead – socially, professionally, and psychologically – for this generation?

A smart, practical guide to a brave new world and its complex inhabitants, Born Digital will be essential reading for parents, teachers, and the myriad of confused adults who want to understand the digital present – and shape the digital future.

Laughing at the misfortune of others always makes me feel top notch. I feel better already.

Yeah, I am good now.

On days like today…

It seems like the sky was falling on Wall Street today, with Lehman Brothers hitting $0.15! Their market cap is like $23.50 now, the price of a large pizza and a 2-liter of Coke.. I joke, but in reality it is pretty appalling!

On days like today all you can do is try to laugh. Hopefully this great video helps!

“I was a stock brokah in new yawk city, making meelions of dollahs a yea-ah. Now I have nothin’. I gave it awl up. Within six muntths I was dead broke…and let me tell you mai life has never been so free. It’s wonderful!”

There is some truth in that.
